My previous monitor had right side ports but the computer was on the left, requiring longer cables. Ports on back point directly back which makes it easier to plug in and makes maximum use of cable length. It has a VESA mount if you want to hang it on the wall. The base snaps into the the back of the monitor with a bayonet mount. Feels very stable and non-tippy on the desk. Many other monitors have thicker legs or large base plates that waste desktop space. The circular base legs are thin and leave lots of room. I prefer the minimalist design over the modern swoopy 'fox ears' stying.
